INFLCR launches INFLCR Verified to meet NIL compliance needs

INFLCR, the collegiate athletics leader in student-athlete brand-building, is launching INFLCR Verified to empower the compliance teams to track and manage their student-athlete Name, Image and Likeness activities.

“Since 2017, collegiate athletic programs have relied on INFLCR to empower their student-athletes with brand-building content through our technology,” INFLCR Founder and CEO Jim Cavale said. “We are excited to introduce INFLCR Verified, which is a natural progression of new features our institutions and student-athletes will need to ensure compliance in the NIL era.”

Founded in 2017, INFLCR helps college sports teams and conferences manage and distribute digital content to their network of student-athletes. Student-athletes, coaches, staff and other brand ambassadors receive real-time access to photos, videos and graphics, as they’re produced by their universities or media outlets. This content is then automatically sorted and delivered through artificial-intelligence to the mobile devices of student-athletes through the INFLCR mobile app, providing editorial sharing rights for student-athletes to share to their personal social media channels.

Now serving more than 1,000 NCAA teams and 37,000 active student-athlete users, INFLCR was acquired by Durham, N.C.-based Teamworks in 2020, the leading athlete engagement platform serving more than 3,000 collegiate and professional teams across the world.

The Future of NIL Compliance

INFLCR Verified is the result of months of research of Name, Image, & Likeness bills being introduced at the state and federal levels, as well as feedback received from our 100+ college athletics partners.

Among the wide range of legislation across the country, a key provision kept appearing, with a generalized excerpt as follows:

“Any entity whose purpose is supporting or benefitting the Institution shall be prohibited from causing or directing compensation to a current or prospective student-athlete.”

At INFLCR and Teamworks, our core mission is to empower athletes and build modern solutions to help athletic departments provide the best resources possible for student-athletes. As colleges and universities enter the NIL era, the two companies are more committed than ever to creating technology that aligns with the regulations that will govern college athletics.

“In serving hundreds of NCAA collegiate institutional partners, we are very serious about the responsibility to help them navigate this new landscape compliantly,” Cavale said.

“These institutions rely on INFLCR and Teamworks to provide efficient technology that they can trust, and we are excited to deliver this for them now with INFLCR Verified.”

Realizing the conflicts of interest that would arise from the intended creation of an “NIL marketplace” for student-athletes, we chose to take a different approach, leading to the creation of INFLCR Verified’s suite of new products that are built with the distinct mission of helping athletic departments navigate the upcoming NIL guidelines for student-athletes to benefit from NIL commercial opportunities while maintaining their eligibility.

How It Works

INFLCR, the leading software company powering student-athlete brand-building, provides college athletic departments with the content delivery and compliance platform to assist NCAA athletics programs in the management and monitoring of student-athlete Name, Image, and Likeness activities. INFLCR’s Verified suite of products ensures student-athletes are provided the tools, content, financial literacy, and more to participate in upcoming opportunities from NIL legislation.

Powered by flagship new products like the INFLCR Compliance Exchange administrator dashboard and Storyteller Playbook educational library, INFLCR Verified enhances the student-athlete experience by offering a comprehensive solution for responsible brand-building on social media, as well as a fully compliant path to external commercial activity from NIL.

Athletic programs are adopting this approach to educate and prepare staff and student-athletes for new opportunities and complexities from upcoming NIL legislation, aiming to ultimately provide best-case scenarios for student-athletes who will soon look to participate in monetization activities from their NIL.
