Charlotte Unveils NIL Exchange Program

From the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Department

Charlotte, N.C. — The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Department has announced an enhancement of its partnership with INFLCR that will allow its student-athletes to pursue Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.

Through the Niner Exchange, companies can register to offer potential business deals for 49ers’ student-athletes. Business ventures can include but are not limited to public appearances, autograph signings, social media promotion and endorsement, private lessons, and athletic camps.

“We’re pleased to launch the Niner Exchange with INFLCR,” said 49ers’ Director of Athletics Mike Hill. “This is another step to enhance NIL engagement for our student-athletes. We expect the Niner Exchange to be a place where student-athletes can interact with the vibrant corporate environment in Charlotte. This can have value beyond NIL with internships or even post-graduate opportunities.”

“Charlotte is taking great steps to strengthening its NIL strategy for the benefit of their student-athletes,” said Jim Cavale, INFLCR founder. “I am encouraged by their initiative to provide student-athletes with the necessary resources to monetize their NIL opportunities effectively and compliantly.”

In addition to the business offerings, the Niner Exchange will include NIL information, education, reporting procedures, and guidelines. Through Niner Exchange, registered corporations will now be able to partner directly with student-athletes to increase brand awareness while ensuring they are meeting all the necessary legal protocols.

The Charlotte 49ers Department of Compliance will approve each collaboration and confirm that each meets the 49ers NIL guidelines.

The Process

Once registered through the Exchange, businesses can access a searchable database of 49ers’ student-athletes that can be filtered for various criteria. Businesses can then message student-athletes directly or request pertinent contact information to discuss the proposal.

Once a NIL deal is finalized within the Exchange, student-athletes will complete a compliance disclosure within the INFLCR app. The app will also include a payment processing tool for the business to securely and directly pay the student-athlete with no transaction fee.  All disclosure and payment data will be reported in the institution’s compliance portal. Payments processed through this tool will also be included on a consolidated 1099 for the student-athlete to streamline tax reporting.
