Best in #SMsports, week 4

Army didn’t get the W at Oklahoma, but the Black Knights won the day on Twitter with their fantastic pregame notes package presented as animated graphics.

Each week in INFLCR’s #SMsports newsletter, we’ll call out some of the highlights of social media during the 2018 college football season. Want to nominate something to be showcased? Email tim@3.80.10.35 ….

Here are five items that caught our attention during Week 3:

Army Football almost scored one of its biggest victories in years before falling to Oklahoma in overtime. Perhaps this awesome animated pregame notes package should have been a clue that the Black Knights were going to show up in Norman ready to play. This impressive work makes the old press booklets seem like cave drawings.

Old Dominion Football scored the biggest win in program history, stunning No. 13 Virginia Tech 49-35. The Monarch’s Twitter feed was a real-time ride through the emotions of the day, with both original content and all-encompassing retweets from the national reaction to the monumental upset of the in-state ACC power.

INFLCR client Kentucky Football has an emerging star in Benny Snell Jr., for a team on the rise now at No. 17 in the rankings after a dominating win over Mississippi State. We loved this instant graphic treatment to show Snell’s rise in the UK record books after a breakout 4-touchdown performance against State.

SMU Football got its first W of the season, edging Navy 31-30 in a thriller. Field-level highlights of the winning 2-point conversion? Check. Behind-the-scenes access to the victorious locker room? Check. Capping off an awesome win over Navy with an awesome Twitter post that got thousands of views? Check. SMU accomplished all three to cap its win over Navy.

This Instagram post from INFLCR client Auburn Football made us want to go roll Toomer’s Corner after the Tigers beat Arkansas. Schools are really getting good at telling their own stories via photos, videos and graphics on social, and Auburn is one of the most consistent at producing great content that pops and fits the program’s brand image.
